Kholwani Primary School in Soweto is the first recipient of LED lighting systems.
RLS donated Lugo 1500 mm 35 W LED light fittings which were installed in the classrooms at Kholwani Primary School, providing 210 W per classroom and an LED lifespan of over 50 000 hours. Having replaced all fluorescent light fittings (2 x 58 W) with LEDs, a single classroom is projected to save on average 1470 W per day, based on seven hours’ operation per day (1,47 kW per day). This will equate to an energy saving of some 294 kW per annum, taking into account that there are 40 weeks of school in a calendar year. The total monetary savings will amount to about R450 per classroom, per year.
Exterior fittings supplied were the Solo Bulkhead.
