Long Beach is a major resort which occupies a 59-acre site on the Belle Mare Peninsula, on the east coast of Mauritius. It brings carefree piazza-style living to the longest and widest stretch of white-sand coastline of any Mauritian resort.
The focus of the resort's layout and its life is the urban-style piazza with restaurants, shops and bars. Architecture brings tropical interpretations to contemporary urban themes, softened by natural forms, local detailing and materials.
At Long Beach, considerable thought was given to lighting. The exterior of the hotel is lit almost entirely with LED lighting. This resulted in very low light levels which are not only pleasing to look at, but also very effective in that one's eyes adjust to the low levels. As a result one can see clearly even though the lumen levels are low.
Effective ambient lighting was created by producing uniform light and features were highlighted with directional focused light, thus ensuring that the glare is kept to a minimum.
